Winery notes - An intense nose of dark scented aromas of aniseed, black liquorice and cardamom draws you in to a palate peppered with ripe plum and black currant. Densely structured and detailed, 2021 is a riper more profound vintage of Célèbre than the lighter more energetic 2020 . The inclement weather at flowering and late frosts of 2021 resulted in tiny bunches and small, thick-skinned berries packed with flavour and tannin. Thirty-six years on from the first release of Célèbre, this blend continues to go from strength to strength as the vines slowly mature, their roots moving deeper into the gravels of the Martinborough Terrace.

Ata Rangi, meaning "dawn sky" or "new beginning" is a small family owned New Zealand winery, located at the Southern end of the North Island. With a big reputation for serious Pinot Noir, founder and patriarch Clive Paton planted his first vines in 1980 and was one of four pioneer winemakers in the Martinborough area.

Alongside Clive, the vineyard is also owned and managed by Clive’s wife Phyll, and sister Alison. The talented trio, together with dynamic winemaker Helen Masters, have made Ata Rangi known for their flagship wine, Pinot Noir. In 2010, this wine was honoured with the inaugural Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa or "Grand Cru of New Zealand".
