Established in 2015, Cargo is a truly unique and innovative brewing company located at Waitiri Creek in the stunning Gibbston Valley, near Queenstown.

Founder Malcolm, a Southlander, discovered the joys of brewing using a basic set-up in – where else - his garage. The whole process fascinated him, especially the fact that it was as much a science as an art, and that there was so much to learn. In the early days it was a hobby, but the beer industry soon had him captivated.

After some twelve months of crafting the recipes for the Cargo Classic Range – lager, pilsner, pale ale and IPA – Malcolm handed the reins over to Invercargill Brewery, who produced the first 2,000-litre commercial batches that were Cargo’s entry into the market.

In a few short years, Cargo has grown from a small brewer into a whole world of drinking that can be experienced everywhere from summer festivals to tasting rooms and one of the best beer gardens in New Zealand.
