The History of Chianti - During the extraordinary history of Chianti there are some protagonists who more than others have had the merit and the responsibility of making this wine legendary, also through a sincere enhancement of its production area, unique for a great variety of aspects. Today, saying Chianti in the world means evoking much more than a wine. This was also made possible thanks to seventeen far-sighted winemakers - "Those of Geografico" - who already in 1961 understood the importance of the extraordinary bond between a wine and its production area. From here, more than half a century ago, the story of the Geografico started and today continues its journey thanks to the passion for the territory of Piccini family, who bought it to continue its memory. From those seventeen initial winemakers, today we can count even sixty. All mainly rooted in the territories of Chianti and Chianti Classico, but also of Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Sixty passionate winemakers working every day to enhance a great appellation and its wines, starting with its main grape variety: Sangiovese.

OUR HILLS, OUR PRIDE - The vineyards of Geografico 170 members are located in the most prestigious production region of Tuscany, covering an area of approximately 550 hectares. In addition, more than 400 of these hectares are registered in the Register of Denomination of Origin productions. The main production areas are: Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Senesi and Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

Chianti Classico - In the southern part of the Chianti Classico area, in particular in the historic villages of Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Castelnuovo Berardenga, there are 160 hectares of vines, located at altitudes ranging between 280 and 600 meters above sea level, intended for the production of Chianti Classico DOCG.

Chianti Colli Senesi and Di San Gimignano Vernaccia - Still in the province of Siena, at 250 meters above sea level, there are 165 hectares intended for the production of Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG. The picture is completed by the approximately 60 hectares rooted around the beautiful town of San Gimignano, intended for the vinification of the homonymous Vernaccia DOCG.

KEEPERS OF TRADITION - A few simple but clear concepts are the basis of Geografico philosophy: people, territory, and the truest identity of its wine.

People - Despite all the changes that have taken place over time, the guideline has always remained the same: attention to people. For us it is essential to guarantee each individual grower a safe point of reference, offering agronomic, oenological, productive, logistical, and financial support.

The Territory and its enhancement - The Geografico region is not only raw material and territoriality, understood as a set of places. This land is the absolute protagonist of our identity. It binds us, identifies us and makes us proud to be Farmers of the Chianti Geografico. For all these reasons, it is defended and, together with it, we defend its link with our historical product: the wine.

The Wine Identity - Geografico is love for wine, people, and territory. The very identity of our wine rises from the combination of these elements.
