French-born Guillaume Thomas never meant to stay in New Zealand, but after falling in love with his Kiwi wife Esther and everything that the New Zealand winemaking regions have to offer, there was no turning back! Inspired by nature, science, gastronomy, and family celebrations, Guillaume Thomas’ passion for all things winemaking was ignited in the small village where he grew up in the Loire Valley, and it is that same passion that continues to energize and innovate the way they make Maison Noire boutique vintages. What started as a few vines on a magical plot of land on the Waimarama Road has transformed into a fusion of French and Kiwi traditions, using the past to influence their modern winemaking process, crafting wines where New World meets Old World: “A French taste of New Zealand”. Named after the “Black House” where they live in the vineyard, Maison Noire is an irresistible combination of long-held traditions, a fusion of two celebrated winemaking cultures, and an expression of wine at it’s finest.
