ACCOLADES

A balanced nose of red plum and blackcurrants with good depth. The Cabernet Franc showing much stronger than in previous vintages, giving the nose strong Bordelais characteristics. Full bodied and ripe, again a strong Cabernet Franc flavour with red and black fruit, cherries and cherry stone, then soft ripe tannins of good persistence giving this wine real focus. A sleeper.

“Viburno”, the flagship wine of the Poderi Crisci Estate label is a fine blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Montepulciano. Traditionally the fruit is harvested from their Northern Merlot block, just above the “House Block” and our Southern Merlot both of which were tasting fantastic at time of harvest. The Cabernet Franc, picked from a parcel at the top of the vineyard offers a beautiful fragrant aspect and the Montepulciano delivers a fine spice and silken tannins.

Immersed in the art of food and wine for four generations, the Poderi Crisci winery is an invitation to appreciate the finer things in life, a destination with layers of experience. A family-owned vineyard with flair for all things Italian and a passion for traditional winemaking, this slice of Tuscany in the infamous Waiheke Island wine region will transport you to a simpler time just by tasting their wine!

Napoli-raised Antonio Crisci arrived in New Zealand in the early 90’s, quickly making a name for himself in the Auckland hospitality scene while setting his sights on a winery where tradition would meet innovation and give people a taste for distinctly Italian wine blends. Planting the very first merlot vines in early 2000, the family have stayed true to old world styled wine and grape varieties, while providing the ultimate winery experience for locals and tourists alike.

Time-honoured traditions and commitment to flavour are just a few reasons why “things just taste better at Poderi Crisci”.

Poderi Crisci's restaurant has received the recognition of being a Metro Top 50 restaurant as well as being listed in the Cuisine Good Food Guide containing the best 70 restaurants in New Zealand. It is also a stunning venue for weddings, private events for up to 100 guests. Just arriving at Poderi Crisci you may well think that you have been transported to Tuscany.
