Reverend Dawson’s Gin is named after one of New Zealand’s leading prohibitionist who also happens to be the great, great grandfather of Stewart and Chris Reid. The Rev. became widely known for his assiduous parliamentary lobbying and campaigning in favour of total prohibition.
When brothers Stew and Chris Reid started Reid & Reid distillery, they decided to put their uniquely refined knowledge of engineering and beverage production to better use, so they got work challenging the perception of what a classic gin should be, and introducing gin-lovers like you to the quirky, unexpected flavours that only native New Zealand flora can offer in a spirit.
After 2 years of determined foraging through the native New Zealand bush for the most curious combinations of flavours, the pair set up shop in the Martinborough wine district with their custom-made 200 litre copper pot (and some quintessentially-Kiwi determination) to create unparalleled blends of native botanicals, rich red wines and uniquely Martinborough flavoured gin in every bottle.
