ACCOLADES

"This is a stylish Bordeaux blend showing attractive blackcurrant, spiced cherry, smoked game, mushroom and toasted almond characters on the nose. The palate is beautifully weighted and rounded, delivering lovely fruit weight and intensity, together with fine texture and chalky tannins. Well composed, this is complex and engaging. Certified organic." Sam Kim

When Dr. Limmer planted his very first vineyard in the now-famous Hawke’s Bay wine region, nobody had even heard of viticulture. Armed with his history in soil science and a deep love of the finer things, he took a bet on the stony, infertile soil, and 30 years later the family-owned Stonecroft winery is still producing some of the finest vintage wines in the whole area. The bold and time-honoured flavours of Stonecraft wines are a testament to the risk-takers and pioneers that dared to take a chance as the very first vineyard in the region- even when the council told them it couldn’t be done! Now run by Dermot McCollum and Andria Monin, this winery only produces around 3000 cases a year, a showcase of the unique character of their vineyards, and proof that you are drinking the best, from the best. To this day Stonecroft has some of the oldest fruit-producing syrah vines in New Zealand and with their traditional approach to winemaking, each bottle proves again and again that perfection takes time- and their wine is worth the wait.
