The Island Brewery began in September 2017, when after beers, The Island boys decided to rip out the old pokies (slots machines) and TAB at their Papamoa Tavern and produce beers for local Bay drinkers. It was decided early on that everything they brewed would be produced to be fresh, natural and sessionable.
The Island produces beers the traditional way, before mass production arrived with cheap beers being produced quickly. The Island team take their time, do not rush things with batches taking up to 4 weeks . Every batch is small and split between cans and kegs to ensure they provide the freshest beer in the bay. The use high quality Papamoa water, with all the malts coming from the Canterbury region and malted in Dunsandal by Gladfield Malt. Our hops are from Motueka, Nelson and America.
