The Bogle Reserve Chardonnay is a tier higher than the Bogle we know and love, and offers the same core qualities that have rocketed these wines to the top, but with an extra edge of complexity and creaminess. It’s heavy with tropical fruit and nougat notes and melted butter oozes decadence. The main point of difference when it comes to this chardonnay is that it is 100% estate-grown fruit from the Bogle Vineyards in Clarksburg. The fruit is 100% barrel fermented in 100% new American oak and then ages on the lees and is stirred twice a month for about 8-10 months.

Nestled in the heart of California’s Clarksburg region, Bogle Vineyards is a cherished, family-run winery now in the capable hands of its sixth generation. The story of this remarkable vineyard traces back to the 1870s, when Captain AJ Bogle first planted the seeds—both literally and figuratively—for what would become a legacy of exceptional winemaking.

Fast forward to 1968, and the next generation of the Bogle family set about expanding their vision, planting nearly 90 hectares of vines on their home ranch. For years, they nurtured grapes for other wineries before taking a bold step in 1978 to establish their own wine label. Just a year later, in 1979, they built their very own winery—a testament to their dedication, standing proudly to this day. 

Under the California Appellation Programme, Bogle Winery crafts its wines using grapes grown on its own sprawling 1,800-acre estate, alongside carefully sourced fruit from esteemed neighbouring vineyards. Each region contributes its own distinctive varietals, creating a rich tapestry of flavours:

At Bogle Winery, winemaking is an art form, blending time-honoured traditions with a deep respect for the land. Whites, such as Chardonnay, are carefully fermented in new oak barrels, with lees gently hand-stirred just once a month to build texture and complexity. Meanwhile, the reds are individually aged in traditional oak casks—an extraordinary practice for a winery of this scale, ensuring each varietal retains its unique personality.
