Collection: Island Gin
For nearly 20 years Andi Ross spent long dreamy summers on Great Barrier Island in a modest beach shack with two solar panels and a 12 volt battery. It was there in her tiny kitchen she started playing around with mixing G&T’s using lemons foraged from a tree she once stumbled across on a bush walk which she later found was said to seeded from an early shipwreck. With time on her hands, she ventured further and began experimenting on a small alembic copper pot still with other local ingredients.
After many trials with the aid of willing tasters, who nicknamed her ‘Madame Distiller’, Andi settled on a blend of Great Barrier Manuka and bush island honey as the key note and this is the profile signature of the first original Island Gin.
"I like to think of it as the spirit of Great Barrier Island, made by hand, by nature and by a community like no other”.

Copper pot distilled, Andi blends organically certified Macedonian juniper with locally harvested Great Barrier Island Manuka & Bush honey and other special island flora to produce her stunning, award-winning gins.
Given Great Barrier's pristine environment, Andi started to consider the whole packaging process, in particularly the bottle she would use including how it would be made. She teamed up with Visy Glass in Auckland to produce a bottle made from reclaimed glass. She designed a unique and beautiful Kina inspired bottle that would be instantly recognisable, even after the label had washed off and could be re-used as a water or olive oil vessel - even a vase.
