Lagers are brewed using a chilled temperature tank for longer periods of time (than Ales) with a specialty lager yeast that prefers cold temperatures fermented in the bottom of the tank (as opposed to top of the tank for Ales). This process is believed to have originated around the 15th century when the term Lager was adapted from the German word ‘lagerbier’.
