Created by Alex Thomas, one of a few female master blenders in the industry. The Sexton starts with the best ingredients, using only unpeated Irish malted barley in the mashbill for a pure malt flavour. The spirit is distilled in copper pot stills for exceptional smoothness and then aged in formed Oloroso sherry cask from Jerez, Spain, imparting uncommon complexity and richness of flavour.

The Mystery
According to Forbes, The Sexton was likely produced at the Bushmills distillery in Northern Ireland. The label refers to the distillation as having occurred in Northern Ireland’s County Antrim. Bushmills is the only distillery in the county. Moreover, the reference to a triple distilled 100% malt whiskey is usually a dead giveaway for a Bushmills produced malt, just like references to a double distilled 100% malt whiskey is usually a sure sign of a Cooley distilled whiskey. Five years ago, there simply weren’t that many Irish distilleries producing malt whiskey; 99%+ of the malt whiskey being produced typically came from one of those two distilleries.
Alex Thomas
Master Blender Alex Thomas, one of the world’s few female whiskey blenders, has spent decades honing her craft. She began her career as a timber merchant in her hometown, spending eleven years studying and learning about different types of woods. Once an opportunity to work at Bushmills, the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world, came along, she took it without hesitation. And in time, it led her to her current role as the Master Blender for The Sexton.
