Distillery notes - Refreshingly young and wild: Although it’s our youngest tequila, the agaves used in it had been growing for between 8 and 10 years. This means that the power of 8 to 10 years of Mexican sun lies within this bottle, and yet it is counted among the lowest-calorie spirits. Bottled straight after the distillation, it keeps its incomparable taste of fresh agave and will definitely surprise you with its very soft and mild flavour. Create unforgettable magic moments – be young and wild with Padre Azul Blanco.

Born out of a love story between HP Eder from Austria and Adriana Alvarez Maxemin from Guadalajara, Mexico, Padre azul is an award-winning 100% blue agave super-premium tequila known for its vanilla and caramel flavors and unparalleled smooth finish.

Austrian HP Eder inherited a passion for distilling from his father, who produced high-quality schnapps. His team partnered with his father-in-law and a team of renowned Master Distillers from Jalisco, Mexico to create Padre azul.

Will the Austrian drink tequila? His only previous encounter with the spirit had been lemon wedges and a headache. Eder’s Mexican father-in-law brought out at bottle of tequila as part of a longstanding initiation ritual. This movie-like scene was the beginning of “Padre azul.”

Of course, it all began much earlier, namely, with an unusual love story: a Mexican woman studying in Heidelberg, Germany and an Austrian guy. HP met Adrian Alvarez Maxemin from Guadalajara, Mexico – capital of the federal state of Jalisco, not far from the origin of Tequila – at the university, who was studying German at the time.

From then on, Eder developed an intimate relationship with the Mexican way of life, where agave spirits are omnipresent. Fascinated by the culture, he soon became interested in tequila and its production. “In Europe there was mainly poor quality tequila at the time. Hardly anyone knew that high quality tequila existed, which I found very sad,” says Eder.

Eder inherited a passion for distillation from his father, who is known for the production of high-quality Vogelbeerschnaps, a special Austrian liquor that is based on a recipe that’s been passed down for five generations.

Padre azul was launched in 2016 by Eder and his compadres from Austria who saw a need for high-quality tequila in Europe, Eder’s Mexican father-in- law playing a crucial role in the birth of the brand. The European tequila explorers set about on their quest for the perfect taste, finally discovering it at a small distillery in Amatitán, nearby the famous village of Tequila.

“We wanted a product that enchants from the very beginning. It needed to have that certain ’WOW!’ effect. It was very hard work, but at the end of the day we had a fantastic tequila with an incredibly smooth finish. Like alchemists, we searched for this liquid gold for a long time and when we first sipped what we later crowned Padre azul, we experienced this most magic moment.“
