The MARSCHALL is a Barossa Valley Shiraz, named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Valley Vignerons who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, which the Barossa enjoys today. David Marschall was a man of many talents and in conjunction with growing exceptional fruit was a revered martial artist, actor and demolition expert. His legacy lives on through his vineyards within the Tanunda and Ebenezer districts, which make up the backbone of this wine.
Established in 2000, Sons of Eden is intimately involved in all aspects of crafting wines of unquestionable quality, from the vineyard right through to the bottle.
Varieties that the Barossa produces to a world standard are hand-picked from 30 unique vineyard sites and handled through Sons of Eden’s minimal intervention small-batch winery. As a result, the wines have a strong sense of individuality.
With a combined 50 Barossa vintages amassed between the Sons’, Corey Ryan and Simon Cowham, their focus on crafting world class wines is uncompromising.
Corey Ryan - A trained Oenologist and self-confessed wine tragic, Corey lives and breathes winemaking and has amassed a wealth of experience within the Barossa and beyond. He has a great capacity to think big and act small thanks to his background within the winemaking structures of some household names such as; Villa Maria and McWilliams. It was, however, his time as Winemaker for the iconic Eden Valley producer Henschke that first whet his appetite for Barossa wines that has become his entrenched passion with Sons of Eden. In addition to his 25 Barossa vintages he can also boast about being New Zealand Winemaker of the Year in 2007 (Winestate 2007) and Australian Winemaker of the Year Finalist 2016 (Gourmet Traveller WINE).
Simon Cowham - With a broad range of expertise from vine propagation through to winemaking and beyond Simon’s role within Sons of Eden is dictated by the ‘need of the day’. Being trained in Viticulture and most comfortable with dirt under his finger nails Simon’s passion lies within the treasured vineyards from which Sons of Eden source their fruit. As Viticulturist for Eden Valley producer Yalumba in the mid-90s Simon relished the opportunity to influence wine styles from the vineyard and set about understanding the dynamics of vineyards site, their management and mother nature. In addition to his 25 Barossa vintages the Barons of Barossa awarded Simon with Barossa Winemaker of the Year in 2013.
