Craftsmanship & Story

The Isle of Harris Distillery opened in 2015 in the harbour village of Tarbert with a purpose extending far beyond whisky. Founded by Anderson “Burr” Bakewell, the distillery was created as a long-term social enterprise designed to generate sustainable employment and help strengthen the island community. Known affectionately as “The Social Distillery”, it combines this community-first philosophy with exacting whisky production.
