On the nose, Juniper berries and citrus mixed with a touch of honey. On the palate, sweet, juniper and citrus fruits mixed with nutmeg, cardamom and coriander. To finish, warm spices, soft citrus, cinnamon and orange flavours.

Tranquebar Royal Danish Navy Gin reaffirms the old traditions. The navy protected the Danish population in the colonies, they brought home the exotic spices with new flavours, and the crew received their daily ration of Navy Gin as a thank you. Tranquebar in keeping with the age-old virtues, Royal Navy Gin is rich in both flavour and alcohol. This small batch Premium Gin comes in at 52% alcohol, in keeping with history, which has always dictated a high alcohol level for seafarers. Despite the high alcohol content, Tranquebar Royal Danish Navy Gin is a wonderfully smooth and mild gin that can be enjoyed neat.

In June 1838, the Danish Government officially appointed Albert Heinrich Riise as the exclusive pharmacist for the island of Saint Thomas, in the Caribbean, and granted him monopoly status to produce alcohol in his pharmacy. Initially, Albert developed rum and bitters as medicine for stomach ills. However, his rum soon gained in popularity beyond its medical function, and in 1893 The A.H. Riise Company received its first International Medal at the World Exhibition in Chicago.
