A quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon of power and poise. A youthful, dark purple/magenta colour. Intense aromas of ripe blackberries and blackcurrants, complemented by a beautiful floral perfume and hints of fresh cedar, dried herbs and toast. The wine is rich and concentrated in the mouth yet retains the elegance, structure and restraint characteristic of great Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe black fruit flavours, savoury oak, fine-grained tannins and succulent acidity combine to produce an authoritative, vibrant and textural palate with an exceptionally long finish.

"The Prison Block gets its name from a three-quarter- hectare section in our Gimblett Stones vineyard behind Roys Hill originally earmarked for the Hawkes Bay Regional Correctional Facility. The Clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon vines now planted there produce tiny berries with intense colour, concentrated/complex flavours, ripe tannins and balanced acidity; all the hallmarks necessary to produce a wine worthy of a single vineyard release." Trinity Hil

Trinity Hill is an iconic New Zealand winery, celebrating over 25 years of world-class winemaking in the famed Gimblett Gravels District of Hawke’s Bay.

"In 1993, having recognised the outstanding potential of the Hawke’s Bay’s Gimblett Gravels winegrowing district, Trinity Hill became one of the region’s early pioneers, planting grapevines on a barren plot which continues to produce exceptional wines today.

True to our roots, we pride ourselves on crafting especially food friendly wines made from the classic varieties Hawke’s Bay has become internationally recognised for, these being Syrah, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with several varieties that Hawke’s Bay is lesser known for, such Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.

We also produce wines from varieties which are rarely, if at all, planted in New Zealand, such as Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa.  Our wines are made using traditional techniques, sometimes even including foot stomping, or pigeage.

Chief Winemaker Warren Gibson has led the Trinity Hill winemaking and vineyard teams since 1997 and is recognised as one of Hawke’s Bay’s, most experienced and successful winemakers.  The vintages he has produced since arriving at Trinity Hill have earned him the accolades of New Zealand Winemaker of the Year (Winestate Magazine, 2005), and Winemaker of the Year (Mercedes Benz Hawke’s Bay Wine Show, 2006).

Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels wines are all crafted from vineyards within the small, sub-region. Deposited by a wandering river, these unique, stony soils create wines of character and personality.

Trinity Hill has 3 vineyards in this unique grape growing sub-region of Hawke’s Bay, and our icon wine, Homage, is recognised worldwide as one of the benchmark Syrahs produced."
