Ruby red with purple at the edge; intense bouquet with hints of cherries and blackberries, soaked in mint tobacco, slightly spicy. The spicy taste makes this wine sweet to the mouth, finishing with notes of cocoa and coffee. Persistent wine, it will continue to evolve for the next 10 years.

Primitivo di Manduria wine is the most representative ambassador of Puglia. Vigneti del Salento grapes are carefully selected from the low-yielding bush vines “albarelli” of over 70 years old and grow in a red soil rich in iron oxides upon a layer of calcareous rock. The combination of these elements creates a wine that can enrich the tasting experience beyond the most ambitious expectations.
Vigneti del Salento is the new solo venture in Puglia of the Farnese group. The wines are made at two wineries in the province of Taranto on the western flank of Salento. The style of wines - fresh whites, soft and generous red, will be familiar to those who buy their other wines, as winemaker Filippo Baccalaro is the driving force behind this new label. The star wines are, of course, made from native grapes like Verdeca, Negroamaro and of course, one of our most successful wines in NZ, Primitivo.
