Waiheke Whisky Moss Batch Peated Single Malt

A crowd pleasing whisky with floral aromas of jasmine, honey, liquorice, vanilla bean and cough syrup, created by the interaction of the lightly peated malt with the American oak wine barrels, which have been shaved, toasted and re-charred (STR). Further maturation in first fill bourbon barrels provides a creamy texture and a long lingering finish with spice and sweet fruit, and a teasing hint of smoke.

THE BREWER

The Waiheke Whisky Distillery truly came to life in 2010, thanks to the invaluable guidance of Tony Denny. As the former chief brewer for Lion Nathan, Tony brought with him a wealth of expertise, teaching the Waiheke Whisky team the art of mashing and the secrets to a perfect ferment. Having Tony on the team has been an extraordinary stroke of luck, and his influence continues to inspire the team every day. 

THE BEEKEEPER

Meet Richard Evatt, Waiheke Whisky's dedicated beekeeper and production manager, who dives into his work with enthusiasm, like raking a mash with passion. Richard and Mark embarked on the Waiheke Whisky journey together, infusing the process with practicality and a profound love for nature. Richard's touch adds a special sweetness to everything they do. 

THE ENGINEER

Eric joined the Waiheke Whisky adventure in a moment of serendipity, over a fireside chat about crafting whisky. With a mind that dances between Newton’s principles and Crowley’s mysticism, Eric’s innovative ideas on distillation and design have shaped Waiheke Whisky stills and, ultimately, their distinctive character.

THE STILLMAN

Calling Paddy Newton merely the stillman is an understatement. As a multiple Winemaker of the Year awardee, he is a virtuoso of fermentation and flavour, as well as a forklift maestro. Paddy ensures daily production runs smoothly and maintains impeccable quality control.

THE DREAMERS
